Round-up of the WI’s presence at Eisteddfod y Garreg Las

We had a successful presence at Eisteddfod y Garreg Las in Llantwd from 1 - 8 August 2026. Hosted by Pembrokeshire Federation, every day we welcomed hundreds of Eisteddfod visitors to our stand on the Maes.

Some of the highlights from our week included:

  • The daily demonstrations led by members - from peg loom weaving, crochet and Christmas decorations to fresh flower arranging, pop up cards, cookery and Fabergé-style egg.
  • Chatting to non-members about what the WI offers and some women signing up to attend a taster session at their local WI.
  • A visit from Sioned Williams MS, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Equality and Safa Elhassan MS
  • Catching up with other organisations including TUC Cymru, Rotary and Dewis Choice.
  • Recruiting allies to sign the Not in my Name pledge board including the White Ribbon promise to ‘never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women’.
