Join the WI to mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Annually, the WI hosts events at the Senedd bringing stakeholders together to mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Our 2026 events, sponsored by Shav Taj MS, will take place on Monday 23 November:

Daytime stakeholder event (hybrid)
The Neuadd, Senedd, Cardiff Bay, 11am until 1pm
This event will include a discussion focusing on violence against women and homelessness with contributions from:
- Ruth Dodsworth OBE, survivor of domestic abuse, campaigner, presenter and journalist
- Llamau, a leading homelessness charity in Wales, with a mission to eradicate homelessness for young people and vulnerable women
- Councillor Andrea Harrington, WLGA Housing Spokesperson
- Sara Kirkpatrick, Chief Executive, Welsh Women's Aid

Candlelight vigil
The Pierhead, Cardiff Bay ending with a short walk with candles, 6pm until 7.30pm
This event is an opportunity for supporters to come together to show solidarity with survivors.
Confirmed speakers:
- Sioned Williams, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Equality and Social Justice
- Dan Ley, SOUND x White Ribbon Ambassador
- Jeryl Stone, NFWI Chair
A survivor will also speak. To demonstrate cross-party support, each of the political parties has been invited to make a short statement.
