WI presence at the National Eisteddfod of Wales

This year’s Eisteddfod will be held on the outskirts of Wrexham from 2 - 9 August.

Our stand, located on the Maes, will be hosted by Clwyd Denbigh Federation. We will have a range of promotional and campaign materials available. For the first time, we will also have a dedicated area on our stand where women and girls will be able to relax, chat and take part in craft activities.

The events below, in the Welsh language, will also be taking place in this area during the week:

  • Reading of the short drama Yn Y Tren by Saunders Lewis - Judith Humphries and Morfudd Hughes, directed by Owen Arwyn. Followed by discussion with Manon Wyn Williams and Jerry Hunter - 2pm, Monday 4 August.
  • Discussion on the Gorsedd Costumes - Rhinedd Williams and Ela Jones - 12.30pm, Tuesday 5 August.
  • Talk on achieving equality from Sian Lewis, Chief Executive of the Urdd - 3pm, Tuesday 5 August.
  • Discussion on the WI’s Thinking Differently: Autistic and ADHD Women and Girls campaign – 10.30am, Wednesday 6 August.  Heledd Fychan MS in conversation with Vicky Powner, Non Parry and Sioned Thomas.
  • Talk on Fraud and Scams by Helen Williams, NatWest Bank - 2pm, Wednesday 6 August.
  • Discussion on the WI’s No More Violence Against Women campaign - 10.30am, Thursday 8 August.  Panel members: Ann Williams, Welsh Women’s Aid; Shannon Morris, survivor; Detective Inspector Cefyn Roberts, North Wales Police; and Manon Davies, Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) North Wales.
  • Discussion with Mererid Hopwood, Archdruid of the Gorsedd of the Bards, Beti-Wyn James, the Herald Bard and Christine James, Recorder of the Gorsedd - 2.30pm, Thursday 8 August.
  • CPR sessions - 11am and 2pm, Friday 9 August.

As part of the WI’s new ‘Bystanders Can be Lifesavers’ campaign, we will also be hosting CPR sessions.

Free period products and resources promoting the Live Fear Free Helpline, which provides help and advice on violence against women, will be available on the stand.
