WI and Big Give campaign to help end violence against women
![]()
For a limited period between 6 and 13 October, the Women’s Institute (WI) is taking part in Big Give's Women & Girls Match Fund to raise funds for our No More Violence Against Women campaign.
We have the incredible opportunity to double every pound donated, meaning our members and supporters can make twice the difference.
- Your £10 becomes £20
- Your £25 becomes £50
- Your £50 becomes £100
One in four women in England and Wales will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime, and on average, one woman is killed by an abusive partner or ex-partner every five days. Yet too often, domestic abuse goes unrecognised until it’s too late and public awareness remains far too low.
Since our No More Violence Against Women campaign launched in 2019, WI members have:
- Taken part in awareness-raising events and vigils.
- Supported the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
- Worked alongside specialist organisations and campaign partners.
- Encouraged men and boys to play an active role in preventing violence against women.
- Raised awareness of coercive control and other less visible forms of abuse.
But, we want to do more.
The funds raised from our campaign with Big Give will help us develop a network of No More Violence Ambassadors across our WIs, equipping members to raise awareness of domestic abuse, challenge stigma and encourage conversations with communities.

Jeryl Stone, NFWI ChairI am passionate about all of our campaigns but our Violence Against Women campaign is so important to me. I have marched the streets, wearing my white ribbon and holding my ‘No More Violence’ banner up high to raise awareness. We must keep fundraising and I hope everyone can support.
We're working to equip women and communities with the knowledge and confidence to recognise domestic abuse, challenge stigma and speak up.
Together, we can help end violence against women.
