Introducing The WI Magazine

This June, your membership magazine gets a makeover… and a new name! Here, Editor Sarah Drew Jones delivers a sneak peek at what’s in store.

In the last issue of WI Life back in March, we promised that after a year reviewing members’ feedback, exciting changes were afoot.
Now, as summer ‘26 kicks into gear, we have something to share: your all-new membership magazine lands this week and it’s bigger and better than ever!

WI Life has evolved into The WI Magazine, with a fresh new look and all the WI news, views, updates, interviews, pics, and lifestyle ideas you could want.

Mark your calendars because this new magazine will publish four times a year, in June, September, November, and March, each issue introducing the new season and helping you plan your summer, autumn, winter, and spring.

The WI Magazine is a thank you for your continued support, for choosing to be a part of the WI family, and a celebration of the amazing things you and your WI are doing.

It’s also a way to keep the conversation going: between members, federations, Trustees, and NFWI staff. The magazine chronicles life in the WI, sparks ideas, and reports on the incredible work we do together to improve and enrich women’s lives.

Why the change?

Our mission has always been to help you get the best from your membership. Last year, we took a good look at what we were doing well, and what needed positive change.

The result is a revitalised magazine, powered by WI women’s inspiring stories. There’s more to read because we’ve increased our page count. There are new regular pages, including a WI advice panel, in-depth interviews with members about their own WI, and a section on how to live a more sustainable life.

And crucially, we listened to members’ feedback on advertising. We’re working hard with the kind of commercial partners you told us you’d like to see support the WI’s magazine. Change in this area won’t happen overnight but it IS happening and there are so many interesting opportunities to come, including offers, discounts, and giveaways.

This change in advertising will affect the income The WI Magazine can generate (and the costs to the charity and membership). But switching to four print issues a year helps offset this change. Every decision we make is with members in mind – and the planet too!

So what’s in this first issue?

The WI Magazine Summer 2026 cover

To celebrate the glorious British summer (fingers crossed!), we visited six WIs who live on the coast. From sea swimmers to RNLI crew, the women of these seaside WIs talk about beach life and how they give back to their communities.

You’ll also find campaign updates, new projects, upcoming events, fantastic courses at VIA, picnic food, summer craft, and more.

Remember, you can read a digital edition of The WI Magazine on My WI. And we’d love to hear your thoughts on this summer issue!
