Towcester Evening WI
"Come and try it, you will find us friendly. You also don't need to be retired to join."
NCFWI Devon Holiday March 2025
At our meetings, we… meet and make new friends, socialise, listen to interesting speakers and discuss relevant issues, laugh a lot, have fun, learn.
What are the three best things about your WI? Monthly meetings where we learn about things outside our comfort zone and catch up with old and new friends, spin-off groups where we can follow our hobbies/passions, resolutions where we can learn, attend demonstrations, and fight for causes we believe in alongside like-minded women.
Skittles group meets monthly for fun and activity
What do you and your members enjoy the most and value the most? Belonging to the Towcester community, helping people, a man-free zone and cake!
The WI is… whatever you want it to be! A safe place to share with women. Friendly, a sisterhood, welcoming and inspiring.
Craft group meets twice a month, providing various activities
If you had to describe the members of your WI in one word, it would be: Individual or resilient or friendly or helpful.

One of the NFWI’s vision statements is “Bold and Inspiring”. Can you think of a situation when your WI and/or its members strike you as particularly bold? A situation where your members smashed a stereotype? Calendar Girls.
Can you name one thing people might not know about the WI or do not expect from the WI? Our campaigns and resolutions. You do not need to be retired to join.

What advice would you give anyone who is thinking of joining the WI? Come and try it, you will find us friendly. Don’t be afraid, you get out what you put in; we all have individual qualities to offer.
In your opinion, how has the WI changed during the last 110 years? It has become more inclusive. We started for farm/rural women with a strong emphasis on cookery, now it is much more diverse. Grown with the times.
