"Cakes, cakes and cakes. I literally dream about cakes and have done so for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was able to hold a wooden spoon my mum taught me how to cook. I used to love standing on a chair in the kitchen with my mum behind me, making sure I didn’t fall off, and me taking great pleasure in mixing, moulding or actually to be honest mainly making a mess with whatever I was baking. My mum has a catering degree and was a cookery teacher before she became a French teacher so baking/cooking has always been a staple of my life. My dad passed away from dementia when I was 8 years old and I was bullied heavily in secondary school after he died. My mum tried literally everything to try and make school better for me. Coming into school with me, private tutoring in school, moving schools etc but nothing worked. I was 13 years old when my mum took me out of school and had me home educated and I LOVED it! I was so much happier and could focus on my education rather than being mentally abused by the children I went to school with. My mum baked/cooked with me a lot whilst I was at school to try and help me focus on something else and it worked. It showed me how much I loved the world of food. After I did my GCSE, I really started to experiment with food and recipes. I got my first job at 18 years old with the WI writing their food blog and creating delicious recipes. I am so happy that they chose me to bake for them. My mum really is the person who started my love of baking/cooking and showed me how to be a brilliant baker and that I could turn my hobby into a career and do a job that I just adore. I am so so happy in my life and love more than ever baking. Thank you, mamma, you opened my eyes to the world of cakes when I was a little girl and now I get to do what I love every day. Me and my mum still to this day bake together and I cherish every single moment."
