Flower Arranging Project to make with Children

Project supplied by Christine Pearce, former Denman Tutor

You will need:

  • Clean food tins: Coffee tins are best as they don’t have a sharp edge at the top. If you use baked beans tins, for example, I suggest you tape the sharp edge with tape before using.
  • Double-sided sticky tape: On the whole, you will need to wrap the tape around the tin near the top and another near to the bottom.
  • Materials to cover the tins: You can let your imagination run wild with this.
  • Use natural plant materials: Rosemary stems, ivy leaves, bay leaves, laurel leaves, dried leaves, twigs, moss, bark etc.
  • Materials from your scraps box: Fabric, wool, string, felt, ribbons etc. What about decorative lolly sticks, glitter paper, wrapping paper, cut-outs, stickers, beads or buttons?

Once the tins are covered with your material or/and decorative items you need to collect a selection of foliage and flowers and arrange in the tins for a delightful arrangement.
