French Onion Soup

A classic warming soup for when the weather turns cold.

The addition of a large croute of bread with cheese turns this soup into a more satisfying dish when you are hungry!


  • 25g Margarine
  • 2 large Onions, sliced into fine rings
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 rounded tsp Flour
  • pinch Sugar
  • 1/2 litre Beef Stock


  1. Prepare onions, melt margarine, add onion rings and seasonings and saute over medium heat until golden brown, 5-10 minutes.
  2. Stir in flour and sugar. Add stock, bring to boil and simmer 20-25 minutes until onions are tender.
  3. Serve with grated cheese.
