Ginger Biscuits


  • 1lb Self Raising Flour
  • 6ozs Lad
  • 1/2 lb Treacle (Golden Syrup)
  • Salt
  • 1/2 lb Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp ground Ginger
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda


  1. Sift flour and sugar into a bowl.
  2. Add salt, ginger and bicarbonate of soda.
  3. Beat egg.
  4. Melt golden syrup and lard, and add to dry ingredients.
  5. Add beaten egg and mix well.
  6. Shape into balls the size of walnuts and flatten with hand.
  7. Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.
