Eileen Meadmore

Eileen Meadmore, National Chairman 1996 - 1999

Eileen Meadmore was the first Federation Chairman of West Yorkshire after Yorkshire was divided following the local government boundary changes. She was elected to the National Executive committee and became National Treasurer and subsequently National Chairman.

Eileen, a long-serving Voluntary County Organiser (VCO), was one of the national team training VCOs and now WI Advisers.

During her chairmanship, there were a series of Women of Importance conferences across the country when Presidents were invited to meet the National Chairman other trustees and staff to discuss matters of mutual interest. A newsletter especially for Presidents was also introduced to help to keep the channels of communication open.

Eileen laid the foundation stone for Maple Cottage at Denman College in 1997. Maple and Oak Cottages completed the four new residences and were opened in Denman's golden jubilee year.
