WI members celebrate the centenary at the Gala Concert and Wales Annual Conference

Over 600 WI members gathered in Cardiff at the weekend for the NFWI-Wales Gala Concert and the 91st Annual Wales Conference.

A wonderful Gala Concert, compered superbly by Beverley Humphreys, was held in St David's Hall. Members were entertained by tenor soloist Rhys Meirion, harpist Catrin Finch, soprano soloist Elin Manahan Thomas and the Bone Appétit Trombone Quartet from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

During the morning of the Conference, members were addressed by NFWI-Wales Chair Ann Jones, NFWI Chair Janice Langley and Marylyn Haines Evans, NFWI Vice-Chair and Chair of the Public Affairs Committee. The afternoon guest speakers included author and historian Tessa Dunlop and the actress, singer and presenter Connie Fisher. Tessa shared with delegates stories of the incredible veterans she had interviewed for her book The Bletchley Girls and Connie spoke of her journey since winning the BBC competition 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?'
