Hanging Brasket Competition

The hanging brasket competition has been a huge success with 450 entries being received at the NFWI unit.

With such an overwhelming response we are unable to contact everyone individually, so would like to say a big thank you to all for your hard work, creativity and innovation in your designs.

Many members really got into the spirit of the event and used it as an opportunity to publicise the WI by displaying their braskets around their local community. This brought a great response from the public and the press, with coverage in the local and national press, as well as national radio.

With so many entries the initial sorting was undertaken by Floral Art and Gardening Adviser David Martin, weeding the entries down to approximately 100. The top 100 were then judged and by a RHS judge and winner of 20 Gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, Mr Reg Boulton who selected to top three  who all win prizes sponsored by Sutton Seeds.

The winners will be announced at the sold-out sustainable gardening day at Denman on 28th September
