The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) is the largest women’s organisation with over 215,000 members. It plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills.
Denman College in Oxfordshire, a residential adult education college, is seeking applications for the position of Facilities Assistant to work part-time, 14 hours per week.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day inspections, maintenance and repairs of the College buildings, grounds and equipment, and ensure that all aspects of current Health & Safety at Work Regulations are met.
General maintenance duties will include room checks, legionella prevention, checking fire assets and reactive maintenance. This includes heating and ventilation issues, unblocking of drains and toilets, decorating repairs and office moves. You will also be responsible for liaising with and overseeing external contractors. This role requires accurate record keeping, the ability to prioritise and remain calm under pressure. In addition, you will work as part of a rota system to cover emergency maintenance, during evenings and weekends.
A background of onsite maintenance or experience within a similar environment is essential. A qualification in decorating, plumbing or joinery skills and fire training would be desirable.
