Toffee Caramels

Try your hand at homemade sweets.


  • 1/2lb Butter
  • 1 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1lb Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Water


  1. Boil for 20 minutes, fairly rapidly.
  2. To test, pour a small knob into a cup of cold water. If it goes brittle, it is done.
  3. Put into a shallow tin, and when it begins to set, mark out into squares.
