Hello and welcome to Powys Montgomery Federation of WI's.

We have 46 institutes, consisting of an average membership of 870 members, in a large and widespread area, to the North lies Merioneth & Denbigh, to the East is Shropshire, to the South, Radnor and to the West Cardigan.

The main towns in the federation are Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Newtown, Welshpool, Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinion. Unsurpassed scenery surrounds all our institutes in the very heart of Wales.

Like many Federations within our organisation PMFWI  WI's enjoy a vast program of events organised at local level each month with speakers, demonstrations and social evenings, too vast to mention, where no two groups are the same!

Like our local WI's the Federation offer a variety of events to bring our WI's and members together , which include  arts, crafts, music, drama, public affairs, science and sport & leisure, examples include the popular "Spring show" hosted by our Home Economics sub-committee each May, where our members have the opportunity to display items in cookery, painting, drawing, floral art, and crafts of all mediums set to a theme, this is a wonderful day for both competitors as well as visitors to this event, very much a shop window of our Powys Montgomery Federation.   Our Social, Music and Drama sub-committee do what it says on the tin, organising trips to a variety of places, including shopping and theatre trips, as well our in-house entertainment evening usually taking place in October, this evening really is a treat not to be missed, a much loved event by our members.  Our sporting events are well supported by our members, with at least one sporting event taking place each month, including darts, dominoes, table tennis, tennis, bowling, short and outdoor, croquet to name but a very few, a recent addition to our sporting diary is New Age Kurling and what fun our members are having taking part in this new event,  all of which contribute to the much coveted "Sporting Shield" awarded to the WI with most points at the end of each year.  Last but not least are our campaigners who actively work hard to support the campaigns discussed each year from National Federation of WI's as well as NFWI-Wales, such as "SoS Honeybees",  "Cool – Country of Origin Labelling" , "Love Your Libraries", "Campaign Against Violence Against Women" and the more recent "Save Our High Streets".   To add to our busy schedule are two Federation holiday's the famous 4 day "Snail Trail" so called for its slow and leisurely pace usually incorporating stately homes and gardens, we also organise a European week long holiday which takes place in September.

So as you can see, the WI really does has something to offer everyone, don't take our word for it, come along to any of our groups, we guarantee a warm welcome will always be there to greet you by the friends you've yet to meet.

If you would like more information, please contact Jane in our Federation Office who will be more than happy to help you, in the meantime,

Best wishes and hope to see you soon,

Amanda Willday
