About us

Welcome to the Clwyd-Flint Federation

Our federation has a rich history, with WIs formed over 80 years. Our oldest WI, Nannerch, was formed in 1921 and our latest WI, Broughton & Bretton in 2011.

Originally we were the Denbigh & Flint Federation but in 1933 we agreed to separate to become independent federations.  With 35 WIs we are not one of the larger federations, but there is an old saying that 'small is beautiful!' It is true too, which makes us a happy and successful federation.

Our members take part in many activities ranging from debates and discussions on issues such as farming, public transport and many other projects, to drama, fashion shows, sport, specialised crafts and even salsa dancing!   We also provide friendship, good companionship and social activities. Why not join us?

If you have an urge to do something different let us know what it is – we always welcome new ideas.

We look forward to welcoming you.
