Welcome to the West Midlands Federation

of Women's Institutes

Set in the heart of England and formed 40 years ago following the realignment of counties by the government, we are one of the youngest Federations in the organisation.

There are 48 institutes in the West Midlands and each one is unique.  Find them in both rural and urban areas as well as close to the city centre of Birmingham.  There morning, afternoon and evening meetings and even one that meets on a Sunday afternoon.  Most WI's meet once a month, some however meet weekly.

The Women's Institute is there for you.  It is what you make it and everything you want it be.  Set up as an educational organisation, there is a revival of interest in all craft activities as well as a keen interest in cookery skills, nutrition, healthy eating, gardening, cultural pursuits, well-being activities, sport and leisure, technology and long life learning.

The organisation has its own residential college near Abingdon in Oxfordshire open all year round to members and non-members alike and offering a wide range of courses and activities.

A warm welcome awaits you at whichever WI you visit in our Federation.

Jackie Gregory,  Chairman, West Midlands Federation.
