Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting 2019

Springfields in Spalding was once again the venue for this year's Annual Meeting, which was attended by nearly 400 members from across our region.  It was a particular pleasure to welcome NFWI Chair, Lynne Stubbings as well as other distinguished guests.

During the morning session, Federation Chairman Debbie Venn used her report to highlight the networking and personal development opportunities open to members within the WI organisation at local, regional and national levels.  This was further reinforced by Lynne Stubbings, who spoke of her experiences since taking up the role of National Chair a year ago.  Lynne also kindly presented various prizes and awards, including the Quiz Cup to the Sibsey Sizzlers, various milestone anniversary certificates and a Members Adviser certificate to Liz McIntosh of Wellingore WI.

Other speakers included Paul Bagwell, Chairman of Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes who talked about the vital service provided out of hours by volunteer motorbike riders in transporting blood, breast milk for premature babies and plasma.  At the conclusion of his talk, Debbie Venn presented Paul with a cheque for £200 raised through the sales of Lincolnshire South Federation's 1940s cookbook.

After the lunch break, Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards entertained us with the story of his experience as Britain's lone ski jumper at the Winter Olympics in 1988.  The underlying message of perseverance in the face of adversity was one which was surely taken to heart by all present.
