‘Green Hearts for Climate Change Campaign’

‘Members of the Devon Federation of the WI from across the county met at Filleigh Village Hall on Tuesday February 14th to participate in an afternoon of ‘serious chat’ and ‘fun packed sewing’ to make and share green hearts to ‘Show the Love’ for the special places, people and lives that could be lost to climate change as part of the ‘Show the Love Campaign 2017.’

The afternoon started with a talk by Paula Ferris from the Barnstaple based Coastwise group who talked us through the origins of the group and the role it plays in monitoring climate change on the North Devon coast.  Following on from this was a craft session led by Alison Tamplin (Westeward Ho! WI)  who helped us to make green hearts, fridge magnets and cross stitch hearts to encourage people to think, and start conversations, about what they love that climate change threatens: the cherished places where our memories are made, the fields we play in, the changing seasons and the generations to come’
