Here are some  future dates for your diary

Friday 1st March 2019 - Flicnic - I Daniel Blake

Venue: Derbyshire House, Sherwin Street, Derby. DE22 1GP

Time: Film starts at 1.00 pm but bring your picnic lunch from 12.30

Cost: £3.00 to include Tea, Coffee and biscuits

No need to apply - just cme along and enjoy the afternoon with us

Saturday 2nd March 2019 - Annual Council Meeting

Venue: The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield

Cost: £13

Main speaker - Jules Hudson, presenter of Countryfile and Escape to the Country

Thursday 14th March 2019 - Dancing and Dru Yoga

Venue: Baslow Village Hall

Time: 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm

Cost:  £10 per person

Please bring a towel, yoga mat and bottle of water.  Tea and coffee will be provided

Applications on General Application forms with cheques made payable to DFWI to Derbyshire House, Sherwin Street, Derby DE22 1GP  Please include and email address if possible

Monday - Wednesday 18th - 20th March 2019 - Derbyshire visit to Denman

Thursday 11th April 2019 - Shibori Ribbon Workshop

Venue: Derbyshire House, Sherwin Street, Derby. DE22 1GP

Time: 10.30 am - 3.30 pm

Cost: £30 (materials cost of approx £5 payable on the day)

Tutor: Heather Vickers

Tea and coffee provided, please bring a packed lunch.

Please make cheques payable to DFWI and send with application form and stamped addressed envelope to Derbyshire House.

Please note another workshop will be held in the north of the county later in the year.

Friday 12th April 2019 - Visit to Veolia Recycling Plant

Venue: Mansfield MRF, Warren Way, Crown Farm Industrial Park, Forest Town, Mansfield NG19 0FL

Time: Meet at 1.30 pm for a 2 pm start.  tour lasts approx 2 hours

Refreshments will be provided.

Cost: £2.00 inlcuding admin fee

Apply to Derbyshire House enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.

Thursday 25th April 2019 - County Quiz

Aston on Trent, Baslow, Buxton, Mickleover, Staveley, Swanwick, Turnditch (to be confirmed)

Time: Doors open at 7 pm , Quiz begins at 7.30 pm

£12 per team of 4 (2 teams per Institute)

Wednesday 22nd May 2019 - Cathedral Window Patchwork

Tutor - Josefina Snawden

Venue: Bainbridge Hall, Bolsover. S44 6PX

Time: 10.30 am - 2.30 pm

Cost: £30

Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch

Please bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter, cutting mat, fabric and sewing kit

Venue: Riverside Centre, Derby

DFWI Federation Sub Committee Events – please note that when applying for an event you will not receive any tickets or acknowledgements of your application until after the closing date, which is stated on the advert for that particular event from the sub committee running it.


Why not try and organise your own Kurling event, it's great fun and everyone can play regardless of age or physical ability. All the necessary equipment is available for hire and detailed information on how to play, these documents can be found on the Federation Downloads page.

TheSherWIn Singers meet regularly at Derbyshire House to sing together. Members ofthe Choir come from a number of WIs across Derby and South Derbyshire. For more information join The SherWIn Singers Facebook page or you wouldlike to join the Choir please contact Mary Denise on 01283 585884.

  • Please include the names of all participants and include a stamped addressed envelope for each event.
  • If you are sending an application for more than one event please send in separate cheques for each event and also an A5 sized stamped addressed envelope.
