Bernard Pumfrey
Bernard Pumfrey was born in South Staffordshire and trained in a studio workshop. He studied Furniture Design and Construction (Triple Prizeman) at Wolverhampton College of Art, Silversmithing at Loughborough College, Art Education at Birmingham Polytechnic and Architectural History at the University of Oxford. Bernard Pumfrey is a past President of the Institute and College of Craft Education. He is a former Lecturer at Solihull and Warwickshire Colleges. He is a former Inspector of Examinations, Chief Moderator, Deputy Chief Examiner and Deputy Principal of the EDA Summer School for the Arts. Bernard served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and has been a tutor at Denman College for thirty years. His wife Beryl is an active member of the Stratford-upon-Avon Afternoon W.I.
