Apple crumble

A traditional and delicious family favourite for apple crumble

Ingredients:

675g/1½lb)cooking apples
80g/3oz soft brown sugar
pinch of cinnamon
Crumble:
225g/8oz plain flour
115g/4oz butter
50g/2oz caster sugar
optional 50g/2oz coconut,50g/2oz chopped nuts,50g/2oz rolled oats
Method:

  1. Peel, core and slice apples and place in dish, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Place flour in a bowl and rub butter into flour, stir in sugar and add coconut etc.
  3. Sprinkle crumble mix evenly over apples.
  4. Bake fan oven 160ºC/electric oven 180ºC/gas mark 4 for 30 - 40 mins until lightly golden on top.
  5. Serve with custard or ice-cream.
