New Chair appointed
The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) has today appointed Ruth Bond as its new Chair.
Ruth has been a trustee of the board of the NFWI since 2003 and chaired its Public Affairs Committee for the past four years. A member of Barton WI in Cambridge Federation for 33 years, Ruth has also served as Chair of Cambridge Federation of Women’s Institutes from 2000 to 2004. Ruth is a keen gardener and cook as well as committed campaigner.
Ruth Bond, new Chair of the NFWI said: “I am honoured to be elected chair. The WI is an influential and powerful organisation. I plan to build on my predecessor’s success and continue to lead the modernisation of the WI and reach out to new members. Our high profile campaigns on climate change and ending violence against women will be a major focus for us in the coming months.”
The former Chair Fay Mansell stepped down yesterday following the NFWI AGM at the Royal Albert Hall, following a three-year tenure.
