Top tips for healthy living

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) has today published a new booklet ‘Step into a Healthier Lifestyle’ offering simple hints and tips for a healthier lifestyle. Ranging from top tips for healthy living and new mums to losing weight and easy exercise, the booklet also includes a range of recipe and picnic ideas.

The interesting ‘I wish I’d thought of that’ tips and recession busting recipes come from WI members from around the country to encourage us all to take simple measures to adopt more healthy lifestyles.

Fay Mansell, Chair of the NFWI said: “Our new booklet of simple tips and delicious recipes is the inspiration and motivation we all need to take easy steps to live more healthily. WI members are a great source of knowledge on healthy living and this can now be passed on to others. I especially like the simple picnic ideas which are an economical way to enjoy summer in the great outdoors.”

The booklet is free to download from the WI website at: www.theWI.org.uk/healthylifestyle and is supported by the Food Standards Agency.

Over the past 94 years the WI has promoted the importance of food and leading a healthy lifestyle and campaigned on issues such as GM Foods, Children’s Diet and, more recently, on reducing food waste in the home and healthy family eating for young parents with the Let’s Cook! project.

With 205,000 members, the WI plays a unique role in educating women and enabling them to build and learn new skills and, in turn, passing this knowledge on to friends, family and their communities.
