Welcome to the Berkshire Federation

Lying just to the west of London and hugging the M4 corridor, Berkshire is a county of great contrasts. It is renowned for its royal connections at Windsor and Ascot, for the historic university town of Reading, and for the market towns of Newbury and Hungerford. However, in addition to these urban areas, Berkshire boasts some beautiful countryside and picturesque villages. The Thames is one of the main attractions for leisure time whether on or beside the water.
Whatever your locality within the county, whether town or country, you will find a WI waiting to welcome you. Every WI is different and many offer a wide variety of activities in addition to their monthly meetings. Walks and pub lunches are ever popular, as are groups sharing craft skills, music and book appreciation, and games.Wendy Robinson - Chairman
The Berkshire Federation sub-committees also arrange a varied programme of events in areas as far ranging as craft workshops, lectures on public affairs and international matters, science & technology topics, sport & leisure activities, and the arts including an annual musical production. The travel committee organises two or three holidays each year for members and friends, offering a wide range of destinations, some close to home and some as far afield as Canada and China.

WI members in Berkshire take a great interest in their local communities and are widely respected for their concerns on matters both social and environmental.

Hopefully this very brief insight into the WI in Berkshire will encourage you to come and join us, because together we can make a difference.
