| 2011 Resolutions
Every year members put forward resolutions for discussion at the AGM in June. If passed these then become mandates and form the basis of our campaigning and awareness raising activities in the years ahead. This process ensures that our mandates have been through a democratic process, involving all members and stemming from the grassroots of the organisation.
Before the final resolutions are put to the AGM, they go through a year long debating and consultation process.
Delegates at the 2011 AGM passed a resolution on 'The Closure of Local Libraries' with an overwhelming majority of 98%. The mandate reads:
“This meeting urges H.M. Government to maintain support for local libraries, as an essential local educational and information resource.”
The NFWI will now be campaigning to raise awareness of the risks facing many local libraries and working to mobilise support for our libraries. Please contact the Public Affairs team for information on how you can get involved.

A second resolution on intensive farming was considered at the AGM, however delegates decided to move the business on to the next item so no vote was taken. Follow this link for a statement from the NFWI Chair. |
