
Marylyn Haines-Evans | | | Marylyn was born in Wales and grew up speaking Welsh. Her career began in banking, where as operations manager she controlled a computer ‘as big as a room’. Nowadays, she and her husband run a farm outside Amanford and Marylyn is a Deputy Superintendent Registrar, conducting marriages, civil partnerships and naming ceremonies.
She joined Llangadog WI ‘very young’, was Treasurer at 17 and President at 22. Her 16-year-old daughter is now also a member. In Sir Gar-Carmarthen Federation, Marylyn was a WI Adviser for 24 years and became Vice-chairman then Chairman. In 2005 she was elected Chair of the Federations of Wales Committee and as such was an ex-officio member of the NFWI Board of Trustees.
Marylyn was elected to the NFWI Board in 2009 and is Chair of the Public Affairs Committee. She aslo sits on the Denman College and Membership committees.
Marylyn volunteers with the British Red Cross, is a school governor and on the Council of the British Nutrition Foundation. She is also Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed.
