Joy Thomson | | | Joy was a teacher for 35 years and has been a journalist and careers officer. Nowadays she is Careers & Guidance Officer at a college of further education, a supply teacher and an invigilator. At weekends she works in a hotel.
She joined Heage WI, Derbyshire, in l967, moved to Jersey in l974 and joined St Martin WI. She was committee member, Secretary and President in both. In Jersey Federation she is a WI Adviser and Skills Co-ordinator, has sat on numerous sub-committees, chaired Organisation and Federation Committees and was Chairman for four years.
Joy was co-opted on to the NFWI Board in 2005 and currently sits in the Education, Public Affairs and Training committees. In the past Joy has sat on the Denman College Committee and is currently the NFWI ACWW Representative.
When time permits, she enjoys dancing, amateur dramatics, the theatre and gardening.
