| Every year over 6,000 students from all over England and Wales attend some 500 short
residential courses to develop new skills and knowledge, start a new hobby or
purely for pleasure. Risby WI along with other members from around the
country attended over a long weekend to sample some of the courses Denham has
to offer. Some of us did Walking and Cruising the River Thames, others
Jewellery making, Palace tours or learned about the Music of the 50’s.
The purpose of our trip was to learn a new skill and learn more
about our country's culture and history but we took away so much more. We
enjoyed spending time with friends, made new ones and learned how to relax in
the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. This fabulous facility has a rich
history that has advanced and modernised with the times. It has en-suite rooms,
and a broad range of courses on offer. For some of our members this was their first
opportunity and thanks to the hard work of two of our members (Ruth Lee &
Julie Higgins) we received a grant that enabled the majority of our members to
attend. A truly great time was had by all
