Federation Sub-Committees

The day to day running of the Federation and organisation of events lies in the hands of the Sub-Committees, all consisting of hard-working members committed to the aims and objectives of the WI.

this year the sub committees have been re-organised into the following:

OFFICE & FINANCE
This small Committee, chaired by the Federation Treasurer, is responsible for ensuring that the finances and administrative activities of the Federation comply with Charity Law and other legislation. The committee is made up of the Officers of the Federation, the Vice-Treasurer, the Federation Administrator, a representative of the Sales Team and has the power to co-opt other Trustees who have relevant skills.
MEMBERSHIP & PROMOTION
This is the "service and support" committee, working for the WIs and all members. It consists of 11 WI Advisors, as well as the Officers of the Federation. The commitee acts as liaison between NFWI and the Federation, supports WIS, helps with any problems, opens new WIs and, unfortunately, sometimes suspend them. They attend WIs' Annual Meetings and other meetings when invited.
CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
This committee covers  crafts, literature and poetry, music and dance, painting and drawing, theatre and entertainment and any other artistic pursuits. They organise speaking competitions, poetry mornings, seminars and book groups as well as literary luncheons and musical events.  They organise day schools, workshops and demonstrations to pass on their skills to members. They are available to visit WIs for demonstrations or to help with craft problems. They regularly man a stand at the "Sewing for Pleasure" Exhibition at the NEC.
HOME & LEISURE
this committee offers a wide variety of events and activities to promote members' interests. Recent activities have included basket weaving and flower arranging workshops, tutored wine tasting and visits to houses and gardens. They also deal with the provision of  qualified judges for Federation, Group and individual WI produce competitions as well as providing them to other Federations as required. The committee advises the Board of Trustees with regard to NFWI resolutions concerning their areas of interest. Sporting activities include darts, skittles, bowling, cricket, croquet, walking and many more.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS
This committee has a varied remit, covering topics from ACWW, education, environmental matters, farming, health, international affairs, rural affairs, science, technology and any work involved with WI Mandates. They regularly cascade information to members via the monthly Corunna News Sheet, monthly mailings and displays at Council Meetings. They also arrange Resolution Selection meetings, Resolution Briefing meetings, help WIs discuss and vote on resolutions in May,
