This committee is responsible for encouraging all types of sport and allied leisure time activities amongst WI members. Committee members are always willing to visit WIs, to assist new groups and also to suggest suitable coaches for sports tuition.
COUNTY WALKS Your Leisure Activities Committee will be pleased to hear from WIs wanting to organise a walk in your area during 2010; four to five miles seems to be the average. Some WIs provide lunch after the walk, which is a very good way to add to your funds, but members also enjoy lunch at the local pub if preferred.
Providing facilities for lunch is not compulsory, although members do appreciate coffee and toilets on arrival if this can be arranged.

.. walking boots on, and enjoying a coffee before setting off....
These walks are always enjoyable and allow members to see an area which may be new to them and, of course, make new friends which is what WI is all about. If you would like to plan a walk for your area, or have any queries or require further information, please contact Jean Campton - tel. no. in the Federation's Yearbook.
A charge of 25p per walker will be made towards administration cost, 50p if catering is not done by the WI. The 50p will then be shared between the Federation and the Host Institute. All walks meet at 10.00 am for 10.30 start unless otherwise stated. The walks normally last about two hours. The normal procedure is for walkers to just turn up but WIs obviously need to know if lunch is required and on these occasions request that you ring to book. Thank you to the following institutes for setting off our 2010 programme. If you would like to talk about walks please contact - Jean Campton, tel. no. in County News, under the 'Leisure Activities' column on page 5.
Please note: strong shoes or boots are advisable for all walks.
