GLAMORGAN WI SHOW SCHEDULE 2012 

Advance list of Classes for 2012 Glamorgan W I Show, North Cornelly,
July 27th-28th 

(Full schedule with rules will be posted in February)

THEME: VILLAGE LIFE

Class

 

Description of Class

1

Village Green

An Event on the Village Green… any art medium… e.g watercolour, sketch. oil, gouache, pastel etc. Maximum size A3 including mount, no frame.

A Duck in any craft. Character/dressed ducks allowed.

Floral exhibit depicting the name of a “Pub”.    Natural Plant materials only. Accessories allowed. Maximum table space 22”/55cm square. To be arranged in situ at the Show by one member, unaided.

(Men’s Class) A cooked item which can be eaten with a pint of beer.

Village Church

(Novice Class) A matching buttonhole and corsage for a village wedding.  Natural plant material only.

A sugar craft or cold porcelain decoration for the top of a wedding cake. No cake required.

A head-dress for a bridesmaid at a village wedding

A stained glass window depicted in any craft

Village Shops

Post Office… a montage of used postage stamps

The Bakery… 3 Chelsea buns, rich yeast mixture .

The Grocers Shop: A jar of preserves suitable for eating with cold or hot meats.

Village Activities

A poster advertising the latest production by the village Drama Group
a) Hand drawn or b) Computer generated A4.

(Cooperative) Our WI...Photographs mounted on one A3 background, capable of being hung, promoting your WI and what you do. No captions. Words included in photos eg signs are acceptable. Must be the work of at least 3 members. Interpretation and presentation will be judged.

A pamphlet about your village ... suitable to give to a newcomer moving into the village. Can be hand written or computer generated. Illustrations allowed.

(Cooperative.). The Harvest Supper. One savoury dish, one sweet dish and one floral exhibit. Staging and interpretation to be judged. Maximum table space allowed 22”/55cm square. No more than 2 members to stage at Show.

(Cooperative) The Horticultural Show. A basket of 3 different home-grown fruits and 2 different home-grown herbs. 1 jar of fruit jam. Presentation to be judged

Village Jubilee celebrations

( Cooperative.) Jubilee Street party. One Craft item, 2 cooked items. Staging and interpretation to be judged. Maximum table space allowed 22”/55cm square. No more than 2 members to stage at Show.

a) Under 5 years -   Draw a crown for the Queen A4

b) 5 – 7 years       -   Make a crown for the Queen

c) 8 –11 years       -   Write a story entitled “ The Jubilee” …A4

An item of any craft in red, white and blue

A Battenberg cake for the royal couple ... any flavours

 An Olympic Torch, using recycled materials. List materials used.


Glamorgan County Show,  North Cornelly,  9 July 2011

The sun shone for this year's Glamorgan WI Show at North Cornelly, bringing out a bumper crowd to see all the work and talent of the WIs in our Federation. Entries numbered around 1600 and results were exciting... with many new contestants winning prizes as well as the hard working stalwards showing the way with their high standards and competitiveness.
Congratulations to all the competitors and thanks to all who made the day so successful...these events do not happen on their own.
