| This competition was launched for all members keen to inspire and stimulate children to take an interest in food and cookery . The NFWI asked WI members and child/children aged between 6 and 12 years to hold a cookery session at home between 1 October 2009 and 1 April 2010, and for the child/children to draw a picture or take a photo of what they had made.
The NFWI received an excellent response to the competition and it was wonderful to see the hard work, and enjoyment, that the children had experienced whilst cooking; it was great to see cookery skills reaching across the generations!
All entries were put into a covered box and on Wednesday 5 May 2010, members attending a cookery class at Denman College watched as Maggie Simons, NFWI Education Committee Chair and Board of Trustee pulled the winning 6 entries out of a box. The successfull entries were:
- Roma Vincent, Wootton District WI, Oxfordshire
- Vickie Ward, Angerming Green WI, West Sussex
- Helen Heath-Martin, Litton & Hinton Blewitt WI, Somerset
- Marion Guy, Clive & Grinshill WI, Shropshire
- Ceri Crossland, Tutshill WI, Gloucestershire
- Jenny Kerridge, Witton WI, Worcestershire
Winners received a place on a Family Baking Day at Denman College on either Saturday 31 July or 14 August 2010
