Wiltshire's 90th Birthday Party

Members shed years and became swinging chicks again as Sixties pop stars Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich turned Hudson’s Field, Salisbury, into an outdoor rave and filled the air with golden oldies.

Members enjoying the music

One hundred WIs – over 1200 members – came to It’s Our Party bringing their picnics – some with champagne! – and all set to have a good time at the Federation’s 90th birthday party
'Elvis'

Spire FM’s Ceri Hurford-Jones compered the event, which was paid for by the members’ ingenuity at making money in the Take Five challenge earlier in the year and so was free on the night.
The rain held off, the marquees were gay with balloons and decorations, and a full bill of entertainment ran all evening, including local lookalike Elvis Schmelvis (wasn’t he good, girls?), the amazing Salisbury Young Singers and Downton Brass Band. Kooky the Clown was there to entertain the ladies at their tables.
Dozy, Beaky, Mitch & Titch

The main event was certainly Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich, who belted out all our old favourites, including Zabadak and The Legend of Xanadu, while members danced, clapped and sang along.
Finally, jazz band Four-Plus-One cooled the evening down, playing slower, smokier music as members drifted towards their coaches and cars, some lucky ones clutching prizes from the high quality raffle.

Some enchanted evening!
