Do you have a twin WI?

We would like to hear from WI’s who have “twins” either within Derbyshire or further afield. Some WIs have joint meetings, pay visits, or just correspond. Please let us know – with photos if possible.

Independent Financial Examiners
– A service for treasurers

WI accounts must be examined every year, as soon as possible after the books are closed. If you would like your accounts to be examined by one of our team of FIFEs, please write in to Derbyshire House before 31st July, giving the date of your financial year end, and enclosing a stamped envelope addressed to your treasurer.

There is a charge of £15, which is payable direct to the Financial Examiner, together with any costs for postage etc.

Please send in your request to DFWI rather than approaching the Financial Examiner direct, as the Examiners are allocated to the WIs when all the requests have been received.

A buzzing network- the NFWI and Network Rail working together

Would you like to create a bee friendly garden using disused railway land in your community? If so, identify a piece of land that belongs to the railway and decide what you would like to do with it. Then contact the Public Affairs Team at NFWI (Emily Cleevly for a form).

Do you value your cheques?

As you probably know, the Payments Council has set a target date of 31st October 2018 to end the use of cheques. If cheques are important to you and your WI, or to your small business, please let the Payments Council have your views by emailing cheques@paymentscouncil.org.uk or visit the website at www.paymentscouncil.org.uk

It is essential that the Payments Council are aware of your concerns, for example the security provided by a cheque with two signatories. It would not be practical or cost effective for WIs and small businesses to use cards or internet banking, so if cheques are to be abolished it is imperative that a good alternative is provided.
