We are absolutely delighted to welcome June Whitfield to Berkshire.   June has had a long and very successful career on radio, stage and screen.   She will tell us about her life and times, in conversation with Wesley Smith.   There will be the chance to ask June questions.   Do come and join us!   As always, your family and friends are very welcome.   Ticket prices are the same as last year!!!

 PAPER CONSERVATION

 Thursday 21st October 2010  7.00pm-10.00pm

 And now for something completely different!   Come and learn about the skills of a Paper Conservator   Victoria Stevens works for several Oxford Colleges as a Paper Conservator and will tell us about the interesting history of papers and demonstrate some of the ways that valuable old paper objects can be saved for the future.  

A homemade buffet with wine or soft drinks will be served at the beginning of the evening.   Please advise of any dietary requirements.   Members’ guests will, of course, be very welcome.   Please include a list of names and telephone numbers of those attending.   A map will be sent with tickets

 NEW ZEALAND – LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD

 Grazeley Village Hall, Church Lane, Grazeley, RG7 1LD

 Thursday 28th October 2010 10.00am-3.30pm

 Different perspectives of New Zealand will be explored at this all day meeting.  The history, culture, food, drink, scenery and wildlife, together with an understanding into living in New Zealand today will all combine to give us an insight into this fascinating and faraway land. Coffee will be available from 10.00 am and a light lunch will be served. New Zealand is thousands of miles away, Grazeley only a short drive, so please come and join us.

 A new workshop will be held at WI House with Tutor June Withers.   Come and make your own piece of felt and hand sew a small design from a premade felt sample to give you experience to use your own at home when fully dried.   Details of all items to bring with you will be listed on the tickets.

Join us in the Long Gallery for a hot lunch followed by a demonstration of Flowers for Christmas.   Janice Tattersdill and Barbara Ayres will give you some ideas for your own home, or you might be lucky enough to win one of the arrangements.
