EcoTeam meeting of Aberporth WI members
Following a grant from Environment Wales, 14 members were trained as EcoTeam leaders at a training day in Carmarthen on 24 September 2007. Thirteen EcoTeams comprising of between three to eight members were established and met once a month over four months to explore shopping, food, transport, waste and energy in the home. They shared ideas and supported each other while taking simple, practical actions to learn about how climate change was directly linked to their daily lives.

The key savings achieved were:-
• 16% household reduction in waste;
• 5% reduction in electricity consumption;
• 8% reduction in heating energy consumption;
• 11% reduction in direct carbon emissions; and
• 22% reduction in water consumption.

The EcoTeam led by Ann Jones from Llanddewi Brefi is included as a case study on the Welsh Assembly Government DVD - Tackling Climate Change Together.  The DVD can be downloaded from the Sustain Wales website.
