African Climate Connection

On 27 November supporters of Stop Climate Chaos Cymru, along with African musicians staged an African Climate Connection linking Wales and the International Summit in Durban.

The Environment Minister for Wales and Members of the National Assembly for Wales from all four parties braved the blustery weather to join members of Stop Climate Chaos Cymru outside the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay. They pledged their support for a global emission reduction deal and funding to help the poorest countries adapt to climate change by signing symbolic ‘leaves’ to add to an eight foot tall Baobab tree with the message from Wales to world leaders.   Zimbabwean drummers created an African atmosphere.

Love your Libraries Campaign
The NFWI has launched the Love Your Libraries campaign after the resolution on libraries was passed at the 2011 AGM in Liverpool with a 98% majority.

NFWI-Wales has written to Huw Lewis AM, Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage to inform him of the resolution and for the support of the Welsh Government in protecting local libraries.  A copy of the response received from the Director of CyMAL on behalf of the Minister can be downloaded from the link on the right hand side of the page.

A letter has also been sent to every Assembly Member asking them to urge local authorities in their constituency to maintain local library provision.  A number of responses in support of our campaign have been received.
