All nine classes of our individual competitions were well
supported and the baskets and teacup and saucer entries were the centre
attraction of our marquee.
Two local WIs who celebrated their 90th birthday
this year created displays for the public to enjoy. Lingfield Afternoon had some of their extensive collection
of archives on view and Outwood displayed a huge variety of superb items
showing the diversity of their activities.
We had our usual children’s corner, where the youngsters
made vegetable prints and decorated them with sequins etc to take home. Young and old flocked to learn spindle
spinning, lace making, sugar paste flowers and to help in knitting a scarf and
entering the competition to guess how long the scarf would be at the end of the
show.
Country Markets joined us again this year and visitors who
came into our marquee later in the day were dismayed to find all cakes sold!!
