Lace Cardigan
Materials

  • 6(7:8) x 100g hanks of Colinette Ionain Fruit Coulis, shade 132
  • pair of 5mm knitting needles
  • 6 buttons

Tension
18 sts and 19 rows to 10cm over lace patt, 16 sts and 19 rows to 10cm over st-st, pressed, on 5mm needles.
It’s essential to press your knitted square when checking tension because the lace pattern closes up. If there are more stitches and rows to 10cm than above, try again using larger needles; if there aren’t enough stitches or rows to 10cm, try again using smaller needles.

Abbreviations
beg = beginning; cont = continue; dec = decrease; foll = following; inc = increase; k = knit; kfb = k into front and back of st; patt = pattern; p = purl; RS = right side; skpo = slip one, k1, pass slip st over; ssp = slip the first st knitwise, then the 2nd st, return sts to left needle noting that they now face the opposite way, taking right needle behind, insert it in 2nd st, then into first and p2tog so giving a decrease that slants to the left on the RS in the same way as skpo; st(s) = stitch(es); st-st = stocking st; tog = together; t2R = k into front of 2nd st, then into front of first st, slip both sts off left needle together; WS = wrong side; yo = yarn over needle to make a st; [ ] = work instructions in square brackets as directed.

  • As suggested on the ball band, use two balls of yarn, working 2 rows from each ball alternately to break up the random colour splashes. On the back, sleeves and left front, carry the yarns up the side edge. On the right front, change yarns at the inner edge of the band to carry the yarns up on the WS.  Carry the yarns loosely so they don’t constrict the edge.
