iPod coloured sock
Protect your ipods in all weathers by making one of these handy woollen cases.  If you are making it for someone else you can choose from a variety of colours and patterns to suit the owner.
You'll need a ball of sock yarn - the sample is knitted in Regia self-striping yarn, (Regia Wool 6 Ply Crazy Color Passion 5402) available from Web of Wool and a set of four double pointed needles, size 2.5mm (also available from Web of Wool)

Cast on 48 stitches, loosely. Divide these stitches evenly over 3 double pointed needles. Take care that stitches are not twisted before bringing the fourth needle into play and joining into a round.

TIP: Use both threads to knit the first two stitches. This will make a neater finished edge.

Knit approximately 54 rounds in a rib pattern, K2 P2, or until your knitting measures 13cm.

Next two rounds: K.

Black and white sock
Finish the end of your iPod sock using kitchener stitch as follows:
See a video demonstrations of knitting tips including kitchener stitch.
Divide your stitches equally between two needles, 24 stitches on each needle.
Cut yarn leaving a 30cm length to work with.
Thread this length through a needle and hold the two needles containing the stitches parallel with the thread hanging from the back stitches on the right.

Put needle purlwise through the first stitch on the front needle and pull yarn through.
Put needle knitwise through the first stitch on the back needle and pull yarn through.

Then:
*put needle knitwise into first stitch on front needle and slip off knitting needle. Put needle purlwise into next stitch on front needle and pull thread through. Put needle purlwise into the first stitch on the back needle and slip off the knitting needle. Put needle knitwise into next stitch on back needle and pull thread through.*

Continue working from * to * until all stitches have been grafted. Finish the two remaining stitches neatly and thread yarn end into knitting.
