Launch of the Action Pack to Support British Dairy Farmers

The WI has launched an Action Pack aimed at dairy farmers, the public and WI members to help them support their local dairy farmers.

Now more than ever dairy farmers in Britain need your support. This Action Pack was due to launch at the RABDF's Dairy Event on Wednesday 19 September, however it was cancelled due to Foot and Mouth Disease.

Although the farmgate milk price has been on the increase in the past couple of months this has been due to world market prices and could just as easily fall as quickly as it has risen.

If you are interested in continuing this important campaign in your area download an Action Pack today!
Background
The NFWI has a long standing commitment to farming and community sustainability in England and Wales. We have been concerned for some time about the prices local producers are paid for their produce.WI member in a bath of milk

At the 2005 AGM, WI members voted to do all in their power to raise public awareness of the unfair difference between the retail prices of milk and the price paid to the farmer.

In response, we launched the Great Milk Debate with the National Farmers' Union (NFU) to inform consumers about the low prices dairy farmers are paid and how important dairy farming is to the country.

The debates gave the public a chance to hear from processors, retailers and farmers about what needs to be done to help ensure that the dairy farming industry is sustainable for the future. Please follow the link for further information on the Great Milk Debate.
