Farewell to David (101.011)

Tutor: David Fielding

Summary

A day’s ramble (somewhere!) with the emphasis less on geology, geography, architecture and history, and more on time recalling former highlights and lowlights, and embarrassing moments for the tutor…

Full Description

We contemplated a completely new walk but decided that my very able and friendly successor, John Harris, ably assisted by Christine, will be providing these. We hope you will try them (and him!) out in the future. So, we have settled for an old favourite “Forgotten Footpaths in Blenheim Park”. It is difficult to tire of Capability Brown’s vistas and our Denman picnic lunch will be next to one of our favourite pubs, “The Cock” at Combe. Christine tells me she is in charge of the evening sessions, so these remain a mystery to me! All I would ask for my ten minute slot, reluctantly granted by the lady, is that you are in good singing voice for a well-known folk song (tutor’s version of!). Do come armed with a good joke (preferably naughty) too. Christine has put a ban on my repeats! No book list necessary for this course, and you know all about my notes for students warning you to be prepared for dangerous stiles, quagmires and quicksands etc.
