| Our 90 WIs all have their own individual personality, each meeting the needs of its members. Art and crafts, singing, rambling, eating out and day trips are all popular. Most of our WIs meet in the evenings but we do have a few afternoon meetings and one lunchtime meeting.
We hold classes, events and social get-togethers at our WI office in Kendal. We are particularly excited about our new Writers Group, which has just produced a collection of members' work in the form of a booklet.
Our various federation sub-committees work hard to provide classes and events, outings and holidays across a vast range of subjects to ensure that there really is something for everyone. Our monthly newsletter WI News contains information on all current activities; please let us know if you would like a copy.
Cumbria-Westmorland's two main avenues of publicity are the Great Garden Festival at Holker Hall (held each year during the first weekend in June) and the Westmorland County Agriculture Society Show (held each year on the second Thursday in September).
Our own marquees at these events give us the opportunity to display the traditional crafts for which the WI is renowned, while at the same time-sharing the wonderful sense of fun, friendship and learning that comes with being a WI member. If you would like to join us, or visit any of our WIs, you can be assured of a warm welcome in a beautiful setting in Cumbria-Westmorland.
