| We are very lucky to have our own Derbyshire House in Derby. It has a well equipped kitchen and we regularly hold workshops and events; WIs can also use the venue for their own meetings or events.
Our sub-committees organise events and try to cater for all tastes. Our annual County Quiz Night has become so popular that we now use six venues throughout the county. Craft day schools on stumpwork and phulkari, line dancing, talks on the best cuts of meat, flower arranging and visits to the Sikh temple and the mosque have all proved very popular.
We organise holidays both in the UK and to foreign destinations, rambles in our own beautiful countryside and outings to the theatre and ballet. We are lucky to have a marquee provided for us at both the Derbyshire County and Bakewell shows where there are competitive classes in crafts and home economics and where the entries to our annual photographic competition are displayed.
Every other year we take over Denman College for a weekend and fill it with Derbyshire members for two days of education, fun and friendship, which is just what the WI is all about.
Interesting speakers at our WI meetings help us further our knowledge, have fun and make many new friends.
All these activities, and more, are available to you as a member of our federation – why not give us a try! Derbyshire has plenty to offer to visitors.
