| We have a large room where we hold committee meetings and educational classes ranging from beadwork, silkpainting and iris folding to computer skills and auditions for candidates who wish to appear in our Speaker’s Book.
These auditions invlove up to five speakers giving an abridged version of their talk to a group of members who then decide whether or not they are suitable speakers for WIs' monthly meetings.
We have 234 WIs in Essex, meeting either in the morning, afternoon or evening. Meetings usually follow a similar pattern with discussions, information from headquarters on national resolutions, current campaign issues, competitions etc, as well as items relating to the activities within Essex, followed by refreshments and then an interesting speaker on a subject of interest. Many WIs also meet during the month if they have a book club, rambling group or a drama section.
We have a lot to offer members, but at the top of the list is friendship and fun. We have a team of Advisers ready to open new WIs where required and all our members are informed of federation events through our monthly newsletter.
If you would like a free copy, please contact us and we will be happy to send you a copy.
