Although we are a small County by comparison, we are very active, embracing as many national projects as possible. We have hosted a Compost Day and have had several Eco teams running, thus taking up the new, as well as keeping the traditional WI skills alive by holding both a Summer and Autumn Rally, when tables groan with food, floral art, photography and excellent paintings. Computer based skills are not forgotten in our schedule. Our members' interests are diverse and to cater for this we hold regular Focus Meetings when a particular topic is discussed with experts in that field. Our Holiday Club has visited the European Parliament and regularly travel to Europe having a wonderful time. We also hold lunches, the profit from which goes to support ACWW and in 2007 enough money was raised to buy chickens and renovate a school for a community in South Africa - in 2008 it is Romanian Street Children who will benefit. If none of that appeals there are Darts, Quiz Evenings, Treasure Hunts, Walking, Group Meetings and Spring and Autumn Council Meetings with speakers of note. We have a large County Choir, (Eisteddfod winners in 2007) and this is growing all the time. You may be new to Ceredigion or perhaps you have lived here for some time and not been able to join WI? I hope that after reading of our varied interests you may think now is the time. Don't hesitate any longer, ring our Secretary, Marilyn Coleman at the County Office, Ein Swyddfa, Aberystwyth and she will put you in touch with whichever Institute is nearest to you or best suits your interests. You will be joining a successful, vibrant organisation heralding the start of new friendships, fun, laughter, learning new skills and reviving old ones. Make this year the start of your WI journey and we will give you a warm Welsh welcome. Dinah Gibbons Chairman |
