As the recently elected Chairman, I am delighted you have taken the time to log on to our website. Although we are a small federation we are extremely busy and lively. Our committee chairmen put on an interesting array of events with, we hope, something for everyone.
I am particularly pleased with the ongoing success of our "Let's Cook" project and a big thank you goes to our tutors, Tricia Perchard and Sue Healy. Finally the rest of the world seems to have caught up with our thinking on plastic carrier bags. Our EcoTeams have worked hard and done very well. Our Calendar Committee has worked very hard to reduce the weight of the calendar so that postage is not so prohibitive. Calendars are with WIs now and we are hoping for a sellout. Next year is our 60th anniversary year and we are planning a series of events to mark this milestone. We are also organising another holiday in Jersey for Liberation Week May 2009, this will be our fourth holiday. The first three have been very successful. We have approximately forty WI members from the UK coming to our lovely island and the cards and letters we receive from visitors afterwards is very gratifying. Details of the holiday will be going out to federations very soon.
We hope that next year being our diamond anniversary, we will have a sparkling entry in the Battle of Flowers in August.
The above is just a small sample of all that goes on in our Federation. If you would like to find out more, please ring our office on 01534 731669
